Smart Omega Empress emerged victorious in the MLBB Women’s Invitation (MWI) grand finals, defeating Team Vitality with a 3-0 sweep in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the Esports World Cup. The team showcased their skills in a series of intense matches, starting with group stage victories over DreamMax Girls and Net Angels.
After a slow start in the quarterfinals against Gaimin Gladiators HomeGirls, Smart Omega Empress made a comeback to secure a spot in the semis. They then went on to eliminate Victory Song Gamers in the semis, setting up a rematch with Team Vitality.
Despite Team Vitality’s previous victory in the Southeast Asian Games, Smart Omega Empress dominated the grand finals, winning the first two games swiftly. Although Team Vitality fought back in game 3, Smart Omega Empress ultimately emerged as the champions, ending Team Vitality’s 24-match winning streak.
With this victory, Smart Omega Empress takes home a prize pool of $180,000 and becomes the first Filipino team to win in the Esports World Cup. Their triumph marks a new chapter in the MWI tournament history, crowning them as the new champions.
