The City Government of Valenzuela has implemented three local ordinances banning Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) activities and other illegal gambling within its jurisdiction. Mayor Wes Gatchalian announced the passing of Ordinances 1105, 1107, and 1108, which impose fines and penalties for violators.
Ordinance 1105 prohibits any involvement in Pogo-related activities, with offenders facing fines ranging from P200,000 to P300,000, a P5,000 fine, and up to one year imprisonment. Ordinance 1108 targets illegal gambling activities such as jueteng, video karera, and poker, imposing fines from P1,000 to P50,000 on violators.
Additionally, Ordinance 1107 imposes a moratorium on new online gambling operations in Valenzuela City for five years, allowing existing establishments with valid permits to continue operating. Mayor Gatchalian emphasized the negative impact of gambling on society, stating that it can lead to financial hardships and should not be normalized in their city.
